Day 1 Your Sri Lanka holiday begins

Your Sri Lanka holiday begins with the flight to Sri Lanka. You come to Sri Lanka most of the time the next day. All of our guests leave from their preferred airport at home or elsewhere. We would like to offer you a cheap airline ticket, but you can also buy it online yourself.

Day 2 A short transfer to the beach hotel in Negombo.

During the landing you will see the tropical island of Sri Lanka coming closer and closer. The Sri Lanka holiday has really begun. In the reception hall the driver will be waiting for you, you can not miss him. The driver has a name plate with your name on it. You cannot just miss him. Negombo is about half an hour away from the airport and is right on the seafront. Stay here for 2 nights in a small-scale hotel direct next to the sea. This is where you can relax after the long journey. The rest of the day can be completed in your own way.

Day 3 Sightseeing Negombo on bike and discover the undiscovered beach of Kalpitiya

After breakfast you will explore the Negombo area with a local guide by bike. During this cycling moment, we visit the city center, a Buddhist temple, the fish market and the fruit and vegetable market. The tasting of the different kinds of tropical fruits is also a must. After cycling, we drive to the little known Kalpitiya . It is separated from the mainland by a huge lagoon. It is still wonderfully quiet without bustle in this peninsula. Ideal for activities like Kite surfing and Dolphin watching during Winter.

Day 4 Spot the Dolphins in Kalpitiya

During the winter months schools of dolphins swim on the coast of Kalpitiya. You're up early today to see them in the sea on a boat. With a little luck you will even encounter the largest mammal on earth: the blue whale! You get to know the Hindu culture today through bringing visit to a Shiva temple.

Day 5 Kalpitiya-Sigiriya

You leave Kalpitiya and after a few hours we will bring you to your hotel near Dambulla. On the way you will visit the Aukana Buddha statue. You are now at the in the area of historical sites. This is an area with many beautiful old temples and ruins. You probably have seen monkeys already! Be careful not to leave anything on your balcony, because they are very curious creatures.

Day 6 Climb the Sigiriya lion rock and see Plolonnaruwa on the bike

Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya are today on the program. In the morning you climb the lion rocks in Sigiriya before it gets too warm. During your climb you can admire beautiful frescoes and go through the lions paws to the castle top. Later in the day we continue to the old royal city of Polonnaruwa. This was the second capital of Sri Lanka with many ancient ruins. To make some extra fun, we visit this old royal city also by bike.

Day 7 Sigiriya to Dambulla and then to the hills in Kandy

Dambulla rock temple is to be visited on the way to Kandy. It's just a climb but the view of the jungle is spectacular from atop. In this rock cave temple there are huge amounts of Buddha statues and special rock paintings which are dating to the 1st century B.C.. You will find more than 150 murals in the caves. Through Matale you come to Kandy. Kandy is considered as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka.

Day 8 A visit to the Kandy temple is worth it

The Temple of the Tooth is being visited today. According to the stories, a tooth of Buddha is preserved here and it is Sri Lanka's main religious and the most holiest temple. We will be here for the morning ceremony. You can fill in the rest of the day yourself with your own program. Maybe another visit to the botanical garden or the indoor market? Second night in Kandy.

Day 9 A journey further to the mountains of Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast we take you through the tea plantations to Nuwara Eliya. On the way you visit a tea plantation and a existing tea factory. Sri Lanka is famous for her tea production. Here you get an explanation of the different types and the tea making process from plant to packet. Did you know that tea in Sri Lanka is once a replacement for coffee. After a devastating disease in the coffee plants, a replacement was sought in the 1800's. It became tea! Naturally you can taste a cup of tea during the visit to the tea factory.

Day 10 Get up early to go to Horton plains and then with the train to Ella.

Early today! You visit the Horton Plains plain. This is the highest national park of Sri Lanka. You take a beautiful walk along World's End and Bakers Falls. One of the reasons to go early is to see more birds and animals. Also there is more chance of a better view without mist. In the afternoon, take the train to Ella. Descending through the mountains you will arrive in Ella in the mid afternoon.

Day 11 You have your own program in Ella

Today is of your choice! An ideal day to spend on your own in Ella. It is very green here with a varied vicinity. Visit Ella Rock, Ravanna Caves or take a nice walk to the Little Adams Peak.Options are all yours!!

Day 12 We go from Ella mountains to the elephants in Udawalawe

We leave Ella and drive down the mountains to Udawalawe. Abandoning the mountains is quite abrupt, because you find yourself suddenly in a flat landscape with many rice fields. Udawalawe is a small town by the Walawe river and the Udawalawe resovoir. Together with a ranger you go to safari in the Udawalawe park. This is the wildlife park where you will most probably come across elephants.

Day 13 We descend further to the coast for the beach stay

We continue to the south coast where you stay on the South coast of Sri Lanka during the last nights. The South of Sri Lanka has much greenery and also pristine beaches. On your way to the beach hotel you will visit Galle. In Galle you find one of the most beautifully preserved Colonial forts. The atmosphere within the fort is special because you can find all the colonial influences including street names.

Day 14 Enjoy the tropical beach of Unawatuna

You relax today in your beach hotel in Unawatuna.

Day 15 Unawatuna

This is the second day that you will enjoy your beach stay in cozy Unawatuna.

Day 16 You take your return flight home

The holiday in Sri Lanka is going to be over today. If you are having a later fight in the evening, then it is possible also to visit Colombo. This will be then done in the morning hours.
