Day 1

Your Sri Lanka budget holiday begins at the airport. Besides, you always arrive with a day difference. You can fly from the airport you like. We will make you a proposal but you yourself looking up on a special offer is also possible.

Day 2 A small ride to your first hotel

Your Sri Lanka holiday has begun! Our driver awaits you at the Bandaranaike airport and then brings you to Negombo. Negombo is situated directly on the sea and is a fishing town. You start your journey quite luxuriously by staying in a small hotel walking distance of the beach, shops and restaurants. Your hotel is also right next to the famous Dutch canals. These channels are made by the Dutch at the time of their colonization period in Negombo.

Day 3 On the way to the cultural triangle

We drive you to the cultural triangle. If you book the excursions you make a ride on a bullock cart through a small village. Lion rock of Sigiriya can be seen from afar. It is quite a steep climb, but fortunately there is plenty to see on the way to the top. How about a cave with wall paintings from the 5th century and a staircase along the wall which starts between two lion paws. Your guesthouse with a pool is a short distance from the rock hidden in the jungle.

Day 4 You visit Polonnaruwa in a tuk tuk

It is just over an hour drive to Polonnaruwa. You can visit here the museum and the ancient royal city itself. This is done by tuk-tuk, the local three-wheel taxi. In the vast area across the old town lie the various temples and statues. Polonnaruwa was the second capital of Sri Lanka and was built in the 11th and 12th century AD. It is a world heritage protected by UNESCO where the huge statues are well preserved. You stay today in your guesthouse in Dambulla.

Day 5 Dambulla - Kandy

Your Sri Lanka holiday continues with a visit to the largest fruit and vegetable market in Sri Lanka. Here it is busy day.and night. Dambulla rock temple has also enormous Buddha statues and imposing rock paintings. In the caves you can admire more than 150 murals. Later during the day you arrive in Kandy. Your guesthouse is within walking distance of the Temple of the Tooth. You'll visit the temple in the evening as the ceremony is underway.

Day 6 Today you discover Kandy yourself.

Today is a free day in Kandy. This is a lively city where you can explore the city center easily by yourself. If you book the entrance fees in advance with us then you have a visit to the botanical garden included with your driver. Today also you stay in Kandy.

Day 7 A visit to the real countryside.

Illukgoda is located in the green jungle. You go with a guide who lives here. You explore the area and get to know the real Sri Lankan rural life. During this unique Singha holidays excursie you'll never encounter other tourists! You'll visit the rubber plantation and literally get a look behind the scenes in this rural village. Your traditional lunch is included today. We often sit along the river, so bring your swimsuit! The fun comes as many of our guests get acquainted with the village children. You'll stay in a home stay near the village.

Day 8 We go rafting in the afternoon in Kitulgala

We drive you to Kitulgala. Here you will stay beside the river in tree houses or wooden chalets. In the afternoon you go off the road and do rafting. It's quite an adventure and if more water the canoe can go fast. Still, it is a fine activity for young as well as old . You'll sail through the green jungle.

Day 9 We take you through the mountains to Nuwara Eliya

We take you to Nuwara Eliya where we arrive in the afternoon. Along the way there is enough to see. You will notice that the landscape changing into one huge tea garden. On one of these plantations you visit a tea factory and learn all about breakfast tea, silver tips and black tea. Nuwara Eliya's highlights include the British Post Office, the racecourse, Victoria Park and the city lake. It's all within walking distance from your cozy guesthouse.

Day 10 Visit the Horton Plains and take the train to Ella.

You leave early today, because it's a full day! You will be taken to the plateau Horton Plains where you take a walk along World's End and Baker's Falls; a view point and a waterfall. Close to Nuwara Eliya is the Nanu Oya railway station. From there you take your train to Ella. The ride takes you past tea plantations, waterfalls and rugged mountains. You also pass the highest station of Sri Lanka.

Day 11 We leave the mountains and ride towards Yala

The Yala National Park is one of the largest national parks in Sri Lanka. It borders largely the ocean. The rest of the park is mostly low grown. That increases the chance of spotting wildlife! You go with a jeep into the park and makes an extensive tour of Yala. Elephants come regularly here, but there are also buffaloes, bears, crocodiles and deer to be seen. It is one of the parks in Sri Lanka where leopards can be spotted. This is increasingly difficult but recently our guests spotted some.

Day 12 Towards the tropical beaches of Tangalla

You'll stay in Tangalla between the palm trees on the beach. From your chalet you step on the beach barefoot. Dining by candlelight next to the sea. This hotel has a natural sea pool. Because the rocks break the surf you can go to the sea here all year round. This is tropics at its optimum!

Day 14 On the way to Negombo you visit the star fort of Galle

We drive along the south coast to Galle where an old Dutch star fort is right on the sea. Street names, sign above the gate and the old Dutch Reformed Church revive old colonial times. In the church you walk literally through the Dutch past. Through streets with old Dutch names you wander to the ocean. We drive you therafter to Negombo where you still have one last night before drive to the airport next morning. Are you ready to leave!

Day 15 Negombo - Airport

You get in to the car one more time to the airport. In the airport you say bye to your chauffeur guide and take the flight back home.

Extension East coast
This trip can be extended by a few days to stay on the East coast. During the summer the sea is quiet and therefore you can snorkel around Pigeon Island and dive. Real adventurers go to sea on a small boat to spot the whales who are present here.

Day 5 - 8 We ride to the East coast for few days on the beach (3 nights) and thereafter follow the program as above mentioned on day 5
