The most beautiful Hindu temples and antiquities are to be seen here. In Sri Lanka we show you the highlights of the country and you can even extend this holiday with a few days by the tropical east coast.

Day 1 Your holiday begins with a flight to Chennai
Your holiday begins with your flight to Chennai. That can be from any airport you wish. You always have a stop on the way and arrive in Chennai the next day. We can offer you a competitive price for the ticket, but if you wish you can book your flights yourself.
Day 2 You land in Chennai and we bring you to your hotel
You land in Chennai which was formerly called Madras. It is the capital of Tamil Nadu and is located on the Bengal Sea. It is almost unimaginable that this city originated from a small fishing village called Madraspatam.
Chennai is very different from the cities in northern India and has a pleasant mix between modern and traditional India. Due to its location by the sea, it is also a touristic city. Today there is no program for us.
Day 3 We ride towards the south to Pondicherry
Pondicherry had a long period of French domination and you can taste that atmosphere here. The architecture in the city will certainly make you think of the French style. We visit Auroville, which was founded in 1968. This is the center of a peaceful society with contributions from people all over the world.
The Matrimandir is the central building. In the afternoon we arrive in Pondicherry where you have the rest of the day for leisure. Often the driver takes you out for a while and lets you see the city..
Day 4 On the way to Kumbakonam we visit some temples
On our way to Kumbakonam we visit some temples. We stop at the Gangaikonda Cholapuram and the Darasuram Temple. These are beautifully preserved temples from the 11th and 12th centuries. You recognize here the pyramid architecture that is a feature in many of the current Hindu temples. Both temples honor Lord Shiva. The temples are built in what is called the Chola style.
We continue our way to the temple city Kumbakonam.
Day 5 So much temples to see close to each other, No where else!
On our way to Mandurai we visit Thanjavur, which was the center of art and culture in Tamil Nadu from the 10th to 14th century. Even now there are still about 75 temples in full glory. The many temples are richly decorated in the Chola style.
Later on in Mandurai we visit the main temples and also the 'bedtime of god ceremony' in the Meenakshi Temple. This is a colorful procession dedicated to Shiva. It is always busy in the temple.
Day 6 In about 3-4 hours we take you to Tiruchirappalli
What can you expect in a city whose name is derived from "little religious city"? In addition to ancient temples which includes the rock fortress and the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, it is also reckoned as the city with the most number of Christian churches in India.
Upon arrival we will visit the highlights in the city.
Day 7 Today is a full day, we ride you to Mahabalipuram
Today is a full day as we drive you to Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram is a UNESCO heritage site from the 7th century to the 9th century. Here you will find various sites that are very worthwhile visiting. The city is famous for the rock-chopped statues. The Arjuna's Penance is a nice example of this.
Our favorite places are the Five Rathas, beautiful ancient temples and the temple on the shore. The location here so close to the sea makes it more special.
Day 8 You leave India and your Sri Lanka holiday begins
We will drive you to Madras in about two hours, where you will fly to Sri Lanka on your flight for one and a half hours. Your driver welcomes you at Bandaranaike Airport and we ride to Negombo. You are staying in a hotel right on the beach. From your hotel there is the direct view of the fishermen on the water every morning
Day 9 What is a holiday in Sri Lanka without Sigiriya?
Our first stop in Sri Lanka is also a bit European. You are visiting the Dutch Welcome Village. Here you will be introduced to the care for elderly people in Sri Lanka, made according to European architecture. This is a special visit in Sri Lankan culture. In the afternoon, when the sun begins to drop, you visit the lion rock in Sigiriya. The climb is a challenge! Fortunately, on the way up, you have enough to see.
Day 10 Today you visit the Royal city of Polonnaruwa
It is about an hour's drive to the old royal city of Polonnaruwa. You will visit the museum and get an explanation on the royal city. You are visiting the city in a real tuktuk! This is the local tricycle taxi. The statues and temples are scattered. Polonnaruwa was once the second capital of Sri Lanka after Anuradhapura fall out as the capital. It was built in the 11th and 12th centuries after Christ. It has been a UNESCO-protected world heritage for some years, where the vast statues and temples have been well preserved.
Day 11 On the way to your home stay in the green interior
In Dambulla is Sri Lanka's largest fruit and vegetable market and a special cave temple with a huge amount of Buddha statues and special rock paintings. You'll find more than 150 murals and hundreds of Buddha statues in these caves. Near Pinnawela we find a nice home-stay in the middle of greenery. Day 12 A special Sri Lanka Specialist village discovery excursion
You will meet the small rural village of Illukgoda in the midst of green nature. Under the guidance of guide Kumara you get acquainted with the daily life of the friendly people
You will literally get a sneak peek in the kitchen of the village. You walk past the simple houses of the friendly people and often there is the opportunity to taste fresh coconut. A meeting with the children or the monk of the village chief is also a possibility. The program can change, but it is the (special) encounter which matters. Also your traditional lunch is included today. Often we go along the river, so did you bring your swimsuit?
Day 13 Today we have just one hour drive to the nearby Kandy
Illukgoda lies closeby to Kandy. Therefore, you have a great part of the day to decide how you fill in in during your Sri Lanka holiday,. Enjoy the pool or explore the city center. Near the temple there are the streets filled with the shops. This is the place to buy such colorful flower umbrella that you've already seen the Sri Lankan ladies using. At the end of the afternoon, the driver takes you to the Temple of the Tooth. We will be there on time for the evening ceremony..
Day 14 Via the royal botanical gardens and a tea factory we go to Nuwara Eliya
At Peradeniya, near to Kandy, you visit the Botanical Garden. You continue to Nuwara Eliya where you arrive in the afternoon. On the way there is a lot to see. You will notice that the landscape quickly changes into a landscape with only plantations. At one of the plantations you also visit a tea factory and learn much about the different tea types. Nuwara Eliya's is high in the mountains and there are several places that make sense of the English influence such as an English post office, a race course, the Victoria park and a Gregory lake .
Day 15 Nuwara Eliya - Horton Plains - Ella
Early today you take a walk along Horton Plains where you walk to World's End and Bakers Fall's. The first is a viewpoint and the second is a waterfall. On early departure, you have the most chance to have an unobstructed view from World's End. From Nanu Oya then by train to Ella. The ride goes through tea plantations, waterfalls and through green mountains. Sign up for a full day today. It is often busy in the train and sometimes you are stand in between the locals.
Day 16 On the way to the Yala national park
The Yala National Park is one of the two largest national parks in Sri Lanka. It is close to the ocean and the the rest of the park is usually low grown. That makes a high chance to spot big cat! You enter the park with a jeep and make a nice safari through the Yala National Park. It is one of the parks in Sri Lanka where you can see leopards. Leopards are unfortunately more difficult to find as they are not easy to spot, but we hear regularly from our guests that they saw a leopard during your Sri Lanka Holiday.
Day 17 Relax leisurely in your own beach hotel in the South
Tangalla is a fishing village on the south coast. Lagoon Paradise beach hotel, where you stay, is right on the seafront. To reach the sea we have to cross the bridge over the lagoon. It has a swimming pool and a nice restaurant right on the beach. If you think of a tropical beach, Tangalla will respond to that image clearly. Palm trees continue through to the golden yellow beach with a blue sea across the beach.

Day 19 An exploration of the Galle star fort
At the end of the morning you will visit the Dutch fort in Galle. There your guide will be waiting for you and you will explore the fort and surroundings by bike. This is a special excursion is also convenient for you because you know then where the best restaurants are. You are staying for a night in star fort! So you have all the time to do a shopping trip in the shops and also to enjoy the fort atmosphere.
Day 20 We travel back to Negombo
We will drive you back to Negombo where you will stay the last night. Among other things, European support had been rendered in Telwatta during the tsunami. The small tsunami museum (actually no more than two wooden huts) gives you a good picture of the post tsunami period and shows the recovery through pictures of volunteers and children's drawings. Also visit a sea turtle shelter project. In the afternoon you arrive at the hotel in Negombo where your holiday has also started.
Day 21 Negombo - Airport
You get in to the car one more last time with your chauffeur during your holiday. You say goodbye to him at the airport and take your flight back home.
Beach extension in the East coast
Beach stay on the East Coast
This holiday can be extended with a few days stay on the east coast. During the European summer season the sea is quiet and pleasant and you can snorkel and even dive around Pigeon Island. The real adventurers go up the sea with a small boat to spot the whales there.
Days 11 - 14 After day 10 we drive to the east coast for a few days on the beach (3 nights) and thereafter follow the program as mentioned from day 11> We have yet another South India-Sri Lanka combination for you!
