Day 1 Your South India and Sri Lanka holiday begins
Your South India and Sri Lanka holiday begins departing from your home airport. You fly to Kochi in South India, the starting point of your holiday. You will only arrive here the next day. You can book your tickets or let us do that, either is your choice. We would like to offer you the best price.
Day 2 Your chauffeur comes to the airport
At Kochi Airport (called Cochin in earlier days) you are welcomed and we will drive you to your first hotel. In Kochi you will be amazed at her many foreign influences. Due to the seaside location there occured a pleasant mix of influences. For a long time, Indians did not see the beauty of Kochi, which lies between the sea and the waters of Kerala. It is called "The Queen of the Asian Sea" not for nothing.
Day 3 Today we see the highlights in Kochi
We visit Kochi's highlights. The program includes the Dutch Palace. Although we say it is the Dutch, it was originally built by the Portuguese and the Dutch reconstructed it! A special mix of styles will be found in the Jewish Synagogue. Chinese pottery and Belgian candlesticks and the very ancient writings are also worth the effort visiting. In the St. Francis Church the grave of Vasco da Gama is to be found. At least it is a reminder because the Portuguese moved the grave later to Portugal. After that we also have to see the special Chinese fishing nets and a traditional dance show. You're staying in Kochi again
Day 4 You visit the Periyar national park
In 1895 a dam was built in Periyar. This created an enormous reservoir, which is now the heart of the Periyar National Park. The park is located in the Ghats hills. Often you will still see old tree stumps above the water. The most beautiful thing about the park is that you have a good chance to spot the elephants in the grasslands. We drive to your hotel in Periyar.
Day 5 You visit a spice garden and make a boat safari.
We start the day by giving you an impression of the cultivation of plants and of the many spices in this area. Then you make a boat trip on the reservoir. The surroundings are beautiful here. Although it's not very common, there's always the chance that you can see elephants, deer or wild boar along the side of the water. On the top deck you have the best view. Because impediment is an art that seems to have been invented in India, you have to be prepared to be on time in the boat. Also this night you sleep in Periyar.
Day 6 The backwaters of Kerala is a must see in this part of India
We drive you to the Backwaters in the morning. We arrive here early in the afternoon and it is about 4.5 hours drive. On the way there is plenty to see and traffic movement is not so fast in India. The backwaters is a huge waterland and canal system and it allows you to explore the watery surroundings from your house boat self! On the boat you will also have lunch and dinner in addition to your breakfast
Day 7 On the way to Kumarakom, You discover it yourself
There is a lot to see around Kumarakom! Not only is the town's tourist center for the backwaters it is also very beautiful. The Ettumanor temple is a nice place to visit. Similarly, the Bird sanctuary, is India wild nature in a nutshell. The Jumma Masjid Mosque is also worth a visit. There after you discover Kumarakom on your own.
Day 8 Back to Kochi where you board the flight to Sri Lanka.
We will drive you to Kochi in about two hours, where you will fly to Sri Lanka on your flight. Your driver welcomes you at Bandaranaike Airport and Negombo is half an hour's drive away in Sri Lanka. Negombo is located directly by the sea. You are staying in a hotel right on the beach. From your hotel there is the direct view of the fishermen on the water every morning,
Day 9 Via the 'Dutch Welcome Village' to the Sigirya Lion rock
Your first stop in Sri Lanka is also a bit European. You are visiting the Dutch Welcome Village. Here you will be introduced to the care for elderly people in Sri Lanka, made according to European architecture. This is your very first sight in Sri Lankan culture. We will drive you inland in a few hours. In the afternoon, when the sun begins to drop, you visit the lion rock in Sigiriya. The climb is a challenge! Fortunately, on the way up, you have enough to see.
Day 10 You visit the old capital of Polonnaruwa
It is about an hour's drive to the old royal city of Polonnaruwa. You will visit the museum and get an explanation on the royal city. You are visiting the city in a real tuktuk! This is the local tricycle taxi. The statues and temples are scattered. Polonnaruwa was once the second capital of Sri Lanka after Anuradhapura fall out as the capital. It was built in the 11th and 12th centuries after Christ. It has been a UNESCO-protected world heritage for some years, where the vast statues and temples have been well preserved.
Day 11 Via Dambulla we ride to our homestay in the jungle
In Dambulla is Sri Lanka's largest fruit and vegetable market and a special cave temple with a huge amount of Buddha statues and special rock paintings. You'll find more than 150 murals and hundreds of Buddha statues in these caves. Near Pinnawela we find a nice home-stay in the middle of greenery. It's your base to visit a small rural village tomorrow. Stay for two nights in this cozy home-stay in Sri Lanka enjoying its own Ayuverdian spa.
Day 12 A special Sri Lanka holiday specialist village excursion
You will meet the small rural village of Illukgoda in the midst of green nature. Under the guidance of guide Kumara you get acquainted with the daily life of the friendly people
You will literally get a sneak peek in the kitchen of the village. You walk past the simple houses of the friendly people and often there is the opportunity to taste fresh coconut. A meeting with the children or the monk of the village chief is also a possibility. The program can change, but it is the (special) encounter which matters. Also your traditional lunch is included today. Often we go along the river, so did you bring your swimsuit?
Day 13 Today we ride within a hour to Kandy, where we stay
Illukgoda is close to Kandy.Therefore, you have a great part of the day to decide how you fill in in during your Sri Lanka holiday,. Enjoy the pool or explore the city center. Near the temple there are the streets filled with the shops. This is the place to buy such colorful flower umbrella that you've already seen the Sri Lankan ladies using. At the end of the afternoon, the driver takes you to the Temple of the Tooth. We will be there on time for the evening ceremony.
Day 14 Via the royal botanical gardens and a tea factory we ride further to Nuwara Eliya
At Peradeniya, near to Kandy, you visit the Botanical Garden. You continue to Nuwara Eliya where you arrive in the afternoon. On the way there is a lot to see. You will notice that the landscape quickly changes into a landscape with only plantations. At one of the plantations you also visit a tea factory and learn much about the different tea types. Nuwara Eliya's is high in the mountains and there are several places that make sense of the English influence such as an English post office, a race course, the Victoria park and a Gregory lake .
Day 15 Nuwara Eliya - Horton Plains - Ella
Early today you take a walk along Horton Plains and come across the World's End and the Bakers Fall's. The first is a viewpoint and the second is a waterfall. On early departure, you have the most chance to have an unobstructed view from World's End. From Nanu Oya then by train to Ella. The ride goes through tea plantations, waterfalls and through green mountains. Sign up for a full day today. It is often busy in the train and sometimes you are stand in between the locals.
Day 16 On the way to the Yala national park
The Yala National Park is one of the two largest national parks in Sri Lanka. It is close to the ocean and the the rest of the park is usually low grown. That makes a high chance to spot big cat! You enter the park with a jeep and make a nice safari through the Yala National Park. It is one of the parks in Sri Lanka where you can see leopards. Leopards are unfortunately more difficult to find as they are not easy to spot, but we hear regularly from our guests that they saw a leopard during their Sri Lanka holiday.
Day 17 Relax leisurely in your own beach hotel in the South
Tangalla is a fishing village on the south coast. Lagoon Paradise beach hotel, where you stay, is right on the seafront. To reach the sea we have to cross the bridge over the lagoon. It has a swimming pool and a nice restaurant right on the beach. If you think of a tropical beach, Tangalla will respond to that image clearly. Palm trees continue through to the golden yellow beach with a blue sea across the beach.

Day 19 A discovery of the star fort in Galle
At the end of the morning you will visit the Dutch fort in Galle. There your guide will be waiting for you and you will explore the fort and surroundings by bike. This is a special excursion is also convenient for you because you know then where the best restaurants are. You are staying for a night in star fort! So you have all the time to do a shopping trip in the shops and also to enjoy the fort atmosphere.
Day 20 We ride back to Negombo
We will drive you back to Negombo where you will stay the last night. Among other things, European support had been rendered in Telwatta during the tsunami. The small tsunami museum (actually no more than two wooden huts) gives you a good picture of the post tsunami period and shows the recovery through pictures of volunteers and children's drawings. Also visit a sea turtle shelter project. In the afternoon you arrive at the hotel in Negombo where your holiday has also started.
Day 21 Negombo - Airport
You get in to the car one more last time with your chauffeur during your holiday. You say goodbye to him at the airport and take your flight back home.
Extension in the East Coast
Extension east coast
This holiday can be extended with a few days stay on the east coast. During the European summer season the sea is quiet and pleasant and you can snorkel and even dive around Pigeon Island. The real adventurers go up the sea with a small boat to spot the whales there.
Days 11 - 14 After day 10 we drive to the east coast for a few days on the beach (3 nights) and thereafter follow the program as mentioned from day 11
